WorldSkills Calgary 2009

Here's another article which is a great read about the WorldSkills competition, coming to Calgary in September. Here's a brief excerpt:

"Nearly 1,000 competitors, including high school students, post-secondary students and apprentices, and 150,000 visitors are expected to take part in the event. Students who watch the competition will have the opportunity to learn about the many available career options, see the various skills needed for different occupations, and test their own skills in some of the demonstrations. "

Check it out - and feel free to offer your feedback on anything you read on this blog.

  1. At the Wilma Hansen Jr High Council Meeting on Tues night (Feb 17th), it was reported that the CBE will involve students at the elementary level in the World Skills event through a "One School, One Country" program. This involves each elementary school being linked with one of the 49 visiting countries. Students will learn about their designated country and participants in the competition will visit the school during the competition to share their culture and experiences.
